Get Involved At WT

The best way to get involved at Wokingham Theatre is to become a member – in fact,  Wokingham Theatre wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for our brilliant membership which is made up from a wide array of experiences and backgrounds.

We have a policy of colour-conscious casting, a wide-reaching diversity and inclusion policy, and we’re always keen to hear from any potential new members thinking about joining us.

Membership opens up all the doors and opportunities that members of our vibrant theatre enjoy, such as auditions for shows, backstage support, theatrical workshops, play reading and writing groups, front of house support and social events.

As a community theatre that is produced, managed and run entirely by volunteers, there’s never a shortage of ways to get involved here.

Membership is open to everyone, so whether you’re a seasoned amateur actor looking to tread our boards, you want to meet new theatre friends, or just want to get involved in the local arts scene, there’s something for everyone.

Members just pay an annual fee, then once you’ve joined you can get as involved with as much or as little as you’d like to at WT.

Our 2024/5 Season

We’re thrilled to announce details of Wokingham Theatre’s upcoming 2024/5 Season. Returning Artistic Director Alan Long writes: WT continues to go from strength to strength, and I’m delighted to introduce you to our new season, offering my thanks to the team who have supported putting this season together: Sophie Pierce, Jeremy Radburn, Jack Atkinson-Joy, Janice Everett, Matthew Edwards, and Sue De Quidt. There is always a challenge in finding eight plays that will appeal to members, existing and new, plus audiences, too – I’m confident we have a fantastic season ahead

Home I’m Darling – Q&A with Jerry Radburn

Laura Wade’s comedy / drama Home, I’m Darling, is coming to Wokingham Theatre. We sat down with director Jerry Radburn to hear what audiences have in store from our latest production.  Without giving too much away (because we know there is a BIG twist in the story) what is the play about? Well that’s the trouble, it’s hard to say much without giving away the big twist, which we realise at the end of the first scene. AUDITION NOTICE: Dead Guilty

WT is committed to being a diverse and open organisation. Auditions are open to anyone, regardless of background or experience, and we particularly welcome those who have been traditionally under-represented in theatre. Synopsis When John Haddrell dies of a heart attack at the wheel of his car, the woman at his side is not his wife Margaret but his lover, Julia. Recovering from the injuries she sustained in the crash, Julia is visited by Margaret, who apparently knows nothing of the affair. Margaret establishes a position in Julia’s life, to help with her ongoing recovery and care – perhaps so

In Conversation: Pressure at Wokingham Theatre

It is widely regarded as the most important weather-based decision in history, as the Allies struggled to decide on the right day for the invasion of Normandy during the Second World War. The disagreement between British and American teams on the approach to the D-Day Landings is the historical backdrop for Wokingham Theatre’s latest play, David Haig’s Pressure. We caught up with cast member Dave Wood to hear what it’s like trying to bring this incredible series of events to life on our stage. Without giving too much away, what is the play about? It’s the true story of the Allied Forces trying
